Careers in the Fashion Industry: Alumni Seminars and Career Discovery Group

The Division of Textiles and Clothing now hosts an alumni seminar, where both undergraduate and graduate Textiles alumni return to UC Davis to speak to current students, faculty, and staff. Alumni are also invited to come participate in the event and network with fellow alumni as well as current Textiles students. We also invite alumni to talk to our Career Discovery Group classes.

Where Science Meets Fashion (Preview Day)

Where Science Meets Fashion is an open house where potential students can do “hands-on” workshops, listen to student and alumni speaker panels and learn about the Textiles & Clothing and Fiber & Polymer Science programs offered at UC Davis. This open house is a great opportunity for high school and community college students who have an interest in a career in the textiles and fashion industry.

“Where Science Meets Fashion” is part of a larger university-wide even known as Preview Day. Students who attend Preview day will have the opportunity for a full day of activities intended for prospective UC Davis students. One of the most important events of Preview Day is the major fair at which representatives from each major in the university are present. 

Where Science Meets Fashion and Preview day will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 9:30 – 12:30 p.m.

Picnic Day

The Division of Textiles and Clothing is one of the many departments and student clubs that enthusiastically embrace in the festivities of Picnic Day. Picnic Day is the largest student-run event in the United States and is the annual Open House for the UC Davis. Our department’s tradition is to provide a tie-dyeing station for all attendees to enjoy. You have the freedom to choose a t-shirt, your tie-dyeing technique, and your dye colors. You leave with amazing memories and a uniquely-designed t-shirt from the Textiles booth! Picnic Day is usually scheduled for the second or third Saturday in April.

Black, White, and Green Ball

The Black, White, and Green Ball is the annual, end-of-the-year celebratory banquet for all Textiles and Clothing and Fiber and Polymer Science students, faculty, and staff, as well as for members of the Student Fashion Association. At this lovely semi-formal event, we honor our graduating students, and wrap up the year over a catered dinner with fantastic company, music, raffle prizes, and a memorable photo slideshow.
